Abstract

The present study addressed the educational challenges faced by first-year students of the Unified General Baccalaureate (BGU) in the Ecuadorian educational system oriented to the subject of Physics. The TPACK model (Technological Pedagogical Knowledge of Content) was carried out with the Google Sites platform called FisLabLeopoldo to improve student understanding and in turn close knowledge gaps. Through the pilot survey, the students' perspective on familiarity with technology, online learning, and the exponential use of the Google Sites technological tool was collected. The results showed that most of the students experienced the difficulty of adapting to the Physics subject and that the scarcity of online resources aggravated the initial ignorance. Even when the relative empirical base was related to the absence of technological tools, students arouse interest in participating in various online activities for their learning. The proposal implemented in the Google Sites technological tool to improve the teaching-learning process of the subject was well received by the students, recognizing the potential of technological tools to improve their understanding of Physics. This research highlights the importance of combining the three knowledge of the TPACK model in relation to technical, pedagogical and content knowledge to overcome educational challenges and in turn promote effective learning in the subject of Physics.
