Abstract

Children around 4 years of age have difficulty recognizing their emotions and those of others, that is, their emotional intelligence is intermediate. Games, especially traditional games, are a means of learning about their environment and culture; therefore, they can be tools to improve their cognitive and emotional growth. The objective of the present study was to develop emotional intelligence through traditional games in children of sub initial level 2. A longitudinal and experimental study was carried out in two stages of time before (before) and after (after) the application of the proposed didactic guide with a focus on traditional games. An observation sheet was used to obtain data on the state of emotional intelligence, which are based on the emotional intelligence test of Mayer, Salovey, Caruso (MSCEIT), the population was 19 children of 4 years of age of the "B" parallel of the "Garcia" Educational Unit of the Guanujo parish, Guaranda canton in the Bolivar province. Subsequently, non-parametric statistics were applied, using the Wilcoxon signed ranks test, the results showed the increase in the level of emotional perception, the level of use of emotions to develop thinking, the level of emotional understanding, the level of emotional management. It was concluded that there is a significant improvement in emotional intelligence, being able to determine that the didactic guide substantially favors the development of emotional intelligence.
