Análisis de la prevalencia de policitemia neonatal en el Centro de Salud Tipo C Lasso, Latacunga - Ecuador

Abstract

The main objective of the research was to analyze the prevalence of neonatal polycythemia in the Type C Lasso Health Center, Latacunga - Ecuador. This research had a quantitative and qualitative approach, the qualitative approach was applied to analyze and determine the prevalence based on the records of the clinical history as a source of information, on the other hand, the quantitative approach was used because a descriptive methodology to determine the prevalence of neonatal polycythemia. The study was carried out from the year 2017 to the year 2018 under a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience, it was determined to 70 neonates. As main results, it was obtained that 71% were born in 2017 and 29% were born in 2018, as a birth history it was noted that the consumption of corticosteroids, iron and folic acid was mostly adequate, the parameters of Hematocrit and hemoglobin in the newborns was not normal and in postnatal history there was no major complication. It was concluded that all those evaluated had neonatal polycythemia despite the fact that there were no alterations in the jaundice results, thus inferring that they were for the most part asymptomatic, analyzing that the clinical history was an important tool to collect relevant data for a diagnosis and study.
