Abstract
With the aim of integrating alternative sources such as avian flour in the feeding of male and female guinea pigs in the gestation and lactation phase, 64 females and 28 male descendants of the Peru breed were used. 3, 6 and 9% of avian flour (gestation and lactation phase) with 65% crude protein and a digestibility of 98% were included in the diet. The trial lasted 120 days. A completely randomized design was applied, with 4 treatments and 8 repetitions and the Duncan significance test at 5% probability. With the 9% inclusion of avian flour, the highest average weight of the mothers was obtained at 45 days 1619.94 g (P <0.05). With the inclusion of 6%, the highest weight of the litter at birth was recorded 462.31 g (P <0.05), also the highest weaning weight 1004.75 g (P <0.05) and the highest average by birth 3.19 offspring, like the best weaning average 3.06 offspring; The best cost benefit was achieved by using this same percentage of inclusion which allowed recording a benefit per treatment of 1.41. The inclusion of 6% of avian flour in the gestation and lactation of guinea pigs is recommended.
