Abstract

The article "ICT: Fundamental Tools in Contemporary Education" examines the influence of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on the academic performance of students in the Physical Activity and Sports Pedagogy program at the Technical University of Babahoyo. Through a methodological approach that includes questionnaires and academic performance scales, the study seeks to establish a correlation between the use of ICT and educational improvement. The main findings demonstrate that the majority of students report adequate access to technological devices and the internet, facilitating their interaction with digital tools. This has allowed students to have a positive perception of the impact of ICT on their academic performance, associating it with an increase in motivation and commitment. Regarding the role of the teacher, the transformation of this role is highlighted, as educators should act as guides and facilitators rather than being the sole source of knowledge. Challenges are identified, such as the digital divide; although there have been advances in access to technology, limitations that affect equitable access persist. Teacher training is crucial, as educators must receive continuous training in ICT to effectively integrate them into their pedagogical practice. ICT is an essential element in contemporary education, having a positive impact on academic performance. However, it is necessary to address existing challenges to maximize their effectiveness.
