Actualización docente acerca del currículo nacional y su aplicación en el aula

Abstract

Ecuador's National Curriculum guides an inclusive, equitable and competency-based education, emphasizing the development of critical thinking, the use of technologies and gender equity; however, its adequate implementation depends on the continuous training and updating of teachers, who must interpret and adapt the curriculum to their specific contexts. The general objective of this research is to establish the relationship between teacher updating and the application of the National Curriculum in the basic education classroom, in order for teachers to grow in their professional practice, be motivated and remain committed to their transforming role, through surveys to 25 teachers and interviews to 3 directors of the Unidad Educative Replica Eugenio Espejo, in order to identify barriers, pedagogical practices and strategies that facilitate effective implementation. The results show that teachers with continuous training have a better understanding of the objectives and competencies of the curriculum, which translates into more effective pedagogical practices and a significant improvement in student learning. Furthermore, teacher updating should be contextualized, comprehensive and part of a systematic educational policy that responds to the real needs of educational communities, since its effectiveness also depends on pedagogical support, institutional commitment and school management that fosters continuous improvement.
