Parentalidad positiva y su importancia en el desarrollo integral del niño

Abstract

Childhood represents a crucial stage in the comprehensive development of the human being, where the parenting style adopted by parents and caregivers plays a fundamental role. This study addresses positive parenting as an approach based on respect, empathy, and effective communication, aimed at strengthening children's emotional, cognitive, and social well-being. The research, descriptive and explanatory in nature with a mixed-methods design, employed both theoretical and empirical methods, including online surveys administered to parents in the city of Babahoyo through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The results reveal that, although there is some awareness of the benefits of positive parenting, practices and beliefs related to physical punishment still persist. The study concludes that it is essential to reinforce the dissemination and training in respectful discipline strategies. Promoting safe and nurturing family environments will foster children’s holistic development, in alignment with contemporary principles of humanized and conscious parenting.
