Abstract

He research topic is the impact that dysfunctional homes have on students' school performance, the objective is to understand the main mechanisms by which an unstable and stressful family environment can hinder children's learning and school performance, the methodology used consisted of a research carried out with 10 experts in the area of basic education, a previous pilot test was conducted to clear any errors when applying the survey, for the numerical weighting 10 different scales were used according to the nature of the questions, the data was organized in Microsoft Excel 2016, the results show that dysfunctional homes have a significant negative impact on the academic performance of students, lack of clear and consistent communication between parents and children, as well as exposure to high levels of chronic stress and constant conflicts at home, make it difficult for children to focus and concentrate properly in their studies, affecting their ability to understand concepts, complete tasks and develop effective study habits and the conclusions suggest that stress and anxiety generated by the conflictive family environment can negatively affect the concentration, memory and information processing of students.
