Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of obtaining Google for Education (GFE) certifications on the self-perception of technological and pedagogical competencies of higher education teachers in a sample selected in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

It was conducted under a non-experimental quantitative descriptive approach. Through a survey applied to teachers who obtained a GFE certification, data was collected on how they perceived their competencies before and after obtaining the certification. The results show a significant increase in the perception of technological competencies, with 86% of teachers rating their skills as high or very high after being certified, compared to 30% previously. Similarly, pedagogical competencies improved significantly, going from 38% to 78% in the high competence category.

This study contributes to the field of technological education by highlighting the effectiveness of GFE certifications in teacher professional development. Furthermore, it opens the door for future research on the use of digital tools in higher education in Ecuador and their potential to improve teaching-learning processes in virtual and face-to-face environments.
