HUMANIZATION IN INTENSIVE CARE: OPTIMIZING THE CARE OF PATIENTS IN CRITICAL SITUATIONS OF VULNERABILITY

Abstract
As a human value, it can be considered a privilege for healthcare professionals to be present in situations of fragility to offer physical and spiritual comfort to both the patient and their family. Care is relational, always centered on the "other"; in healthcare, the "other" refers to the person, their family, and the community. From this perspective, the principle of vulnerability is directly related to the act of caring and the notion of ethical responsibility. Severe illnesses, such as acute myocardial infarction or a cerebrovascular event, significantly alter human dimensions and place individuals in a state of vulnerability when hospitalized in an intensive care unit. In this context of interprofessional work, the Humanization of Intensive Care (HU-CI) project is proposed, with the aim of evaluating and restoring the relationship between healthcare professionals, the patient, and their family during these complex and critical life moments.
