Abstract

Ecuador is a country with high seismic activity, because it has one of the most relevant subduction zones in the world and is also part of the Pacific Ring of Fire” (Parra, Benito, & Gaspar, 2016). Earthquakes cause considerable material and economic losses and, above all, the loss of human life and severe health effects.

To minimize damage and reduce risk, actions such as hazard identification, prevention, forecasting, mitigation, preparation, relief, recovery and reconstruction must be managed, all under the responsibility of the Ministry of Risk Management, the state establishes policies and allocates resources. , but institutions must also respond responsibly to emergencies caused by disasters.

Universities are educational centers where a considerable amount of population gathers, the infrastructures are generally vertically constructed and in Ecuador some institutions were founded more than 50 years ago, as is the case of the Technical University of Babahoyo, specifically in the Faculty of Finance and IT Administration.

 A Cross-sectional Descriptive study is presented: (November 2022 – April 2023). Deductive Inductive Method, population and convenience sample where a survey instrumented by questionnaire is applied to 90 students in the third semester of the Systems Engineering degree.
