Abstract
: In adolescence, risk situations occur that act as determinants of health and can become the main causes of morbidity and mortality at this stage. In this effort, psychologists, educators and school counselors, from educational institutions are in charge of preventing situations such as substance use, early pregnancy, malnutrition, sexually transmitted diseases, depression, and suicide. However, it is necessary to identify the factors that influence adolescent risk behavior. The study carried out in the educational institutions of the city of Babahoyo confirms that the conditions exist to develop the intervention guide for parents, teachers and specialists with a common goal: the stimulation of the cognitive and socio-emotional resources necessary to develop self-determination and self-regulation necessary to face different risk situations throughout life
