Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the perception of gastronomic tourism in the Quevedo canton and its relationship with the SDGs. For the collection of information, a non-probabilistic convenience sampling was used. The key expert sectors were selected: academia, government and gastronomic entrepreneurs. Three areas were also analyzed: Social, Economic and Environmental. The questionnaire was applied to 30 experts and the level of perception of each sector was determined using the Likert scale. The results show that the social impacts of gastronomy, the business, government and academic sectors, see it as a strong impact on the development of its tourism sector. The academic, government and business sectors agree that the gastronomy of the Quevedo Canton has a strong impact on the household economy, on the generation of sources of employment and that the gastronomic activity is very profitable. The perception of gastronomic tourism and its relationship with SDGs 8, 12 and 14, it is said that gastronomic tourism works positively as a source of economic growth in the canton. And finally they consider that gastronomy contributes to responsible production and consumption. It is concluded that gastronomic tourism in Quevedo contributes to 7 of the SDGs, contributes to the economic reactivation of the town, guarantees a better life condition for its inhabitants, positively complements the conservation of natural resources , the preservation of ancestral knowledge, cultural identity and mutual learning and also favors territorial economic development
