Abstract

Today social entrepreneurship is becoming an innovative approach to address complex social needs. The objective of this article is to provide an overview of the existing literature on social entrepreneurship. Regarding the methodology used, a systematic review of scientific articles was carried out, consulting regional and high-impact databases. The contextual factors that influence the emergence and development of social entrepreneurship were briefly examined and focused on its definition to understand this term, which is widely used, the characteristics as well as the motivations of social entrepreneurs
