Resumen

Se realizó un estudio longitudinal de intervención en sesenta y cinco pacientes adultos diagnosticados de Enfermedad por Reflujo Faringo-Laríngeo atendidos en el servicio de Otorrinolaringología del Hospital “Guillermo Domínguez López” de la ciudad de Puerto Padre, Cuba, entre abril del dos mil ocho y febrero del dos mil once para evaluar la respuesta clínica terapéutica de los mismos al tratamiento. Se analizaron las variables: edad, sexo, hábitos tóxicos, antecedentes patológicos personales, síntomas referidos, hallazgos al examen físico y endoscópico, y respuesta al tratamiento a los tres y seis meses de seguimiento. La Enfermedad por Reflujo Faringo-Laríngeo, se presentó con mayor incidencia en el sexo femenino y en personas mayores de treinta y ocho años, y fue frecuente encontrar entre sus hábitos tóxicos el café y el tabaquismo, así como antecedentes de obesidad y enfermedad ulcerosa digestiva. El síntoma más común fue la sensación de cuerpo extraño faríngeo; y los signos más hallados fueron eritema de la pared posterior faríngea y eritema e hiperemia de la comisura posterior. En más de la mitad de los casos predominó una etapa I endoscópica. Se demostró que el tratamiento debe extenderse por seis meses o más para lograr la regresión de los síntomas y signos en un número significativo de pacientes.
