Análisis de sostenibilidad socioeconómica, productiva y ambiental de productores agroecológicos a pequeña escala en Manabí-Ecuador: Caso de estudio Membrillal

Abstract

This research presents a preliminary analysis of sustainability to evaluate the socioeconomic conditions and agricultural technical aspects in Membrillal. Through a case study in the rural area of Membrillal, province of Manabí, we studied the importance of family agriculture for rural area, among with its practice and permanency.  Using Cluster analysis and Sustainability Biogram, we aim to incise into current development of small-scale farmers of this territory. We used a convenience sample to randomly analyze the agricultural families from different communities of Membrillal. It was studied social, economic, environmental and institutional indicators. As main results, it was obtained two clusters which development levels, for both clusters, are unstable and critical. The family agriculture for this rural area is important, but it’s needed more extensionist efforts and technical accompaniment to reach a better socioeconomical level among its habitants.
