Abstract

High blood pressure is a public health problem that affects a considerable part of the population and constitutes a risk factor for the appearance of cardiovascular diseases, hence the importance of identifying modifiable and preventable risk factors that guarantee quality of life, The study aims to determine the risk factors related to high blood pressure in adults from the Babahoyo Canton. A field methodology was applied with the application of a survey and on-site tasks to 110 people aged 18 to 65 years residing in the Babahoyo canton. sectors of Babahoyo, Barreiro, La Unión and Febres Cordero, whose results show that of the 29 cases of hypertension presented, the age ranged from 35 to 65 years with 51.7% male, risk factors for the overweight hypertensive population. and obesity and negative habits harmful to health, concluding that the presence of factors not correctly assumed directly affect the prevalence of high blood pressure and its complications; and that these can be modifiable and preventable with education, counseling and adult guidance.
