Abstract

The low academic performance in students, the habits and techniques they use when studying and especially their level of learning in the subject of mathematics is the main reason that encouraged this study. The general purpose of this article is to analyze the relationship between study habits and techniques with academic performance in the subject of Mathematics of students of Higher Basic Education of the San Gerardo Private Educational Unit. It was framed in a quantitative, descriptive methodology, with a nonexperimental, transectional correlational research design. The population was 310 students from the San Gerardo Private Educational Unit and the sample was 150 students from the eighth to the tenth year. The instrument applied was the Study Habits and Techniques Questionnaire (CHTE), made up of 56 dichotomous questions subdivided into 7 scales. Among the main results, it was highlighted that the students use study habits and techniques in an acceptable way and that their performance in the subject is satisfactory. It was concluded that the variables Study Habits and Techniques and Academic Performance maintain a positive and direct relationship.
