Las plantas medicinales y su uso en las parroquias rurales del cantón Babahoyo, Los Ríos, Ecuador

Abstract

The study of medicinal plants and their use was carried out in the four rural parishes of the Babahoyo canton of the Los Ríos province, Ecuador; during the year 2020, applying the survey method to compile information in a sample of 382 people of both sexes, distributed proportionally according to the population of each of them. Parameters of use, sowing, cultivation forms, cultivation treatment, used parts of the plant, forms of preparation, frequency of use, plants for the treatment of diseases and conditions were recorded. The use of 24 species of vascular plants with medicinal properties for the treatment of digestive, respiratory, skin, anti-inflammatory and colic diseases, in addition to thirty body conditions, were registered, with high values ​​of use by the population. On the other hand, it was evidenced that the transmission of knowledge for the use of these plants is done from person to person, whether intra or extra familiar.
