CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS IN ECUADOR

RESUMEN

La necesidad creciente del estudio y aprendizaje del idioma inglés en el mundo direcciona también la necesidad de ofrecer una preparación a maestros y profesores cada vez más holística que garantice tanto la preparación lingüística como la cultura profesional de la población. Este reto tiene su relación estrecha con la preparación de los docentes de idioma inglés, los que en el caso de Ecuador provienen de formación diversa. Se identifica la exigencia de profundizar en la formación profesional pedagógica de los mismos para cumplir con éxito el encargo social en aras de propiciar un desarrollo socio-económico creciente en el país.

ABSTRACT

The growing need for the study and learning of the English language in the world also directs the need to offer an increasingly holistic teacher preparation that guarantees both the linguistic preparation and the professional culture of the population. This challenge is closely related to the preparation of English language teachers, who in the case of Ecuador come from diverse backgrounds. The need to deepen their pedagogical professional training is identified in order to successfully fulfill the social mandate in order to promote a growing socio-economic development in the country.
